Your co-chairs and alternates have been discussing the proposal for Pier 55, an entirely new 'performance pier' that would be constructed in Hudson River Park. While a large private donation ($130 million) has been offered that may cover much of the construction cost, many questions remain regarding environmental impact, public access, maritime use, long-term maintenance, and, especially, process (to date there have been limited opportunities for public input). Riverkeeper informs us that they are considering legal action that would compel the Hudson River Park Trust to prepare a full environmental review of the project, as the law would seem to require, and have asked if we (the CAC) might be interested in joining or supporting that action. Here are some background documents: Riverkeeper Pier 55 Statement 2-12-15_Final.pdf (44.33 KB) Riverkeeper NYNJ Baykeeper Comments HRPT Pi....pdf (225.07 KB) Please share your thoughts!
